Cross Paws - using Post-its "Clicker Training"

Train your dog to cross his paws as you cross your feet using post-its. Make sure that your dog knows how to target with his paw and foot (use two different cues for each paw. I use paw and foot) Then once your dog understands to target the post-it with his paw or foot, start placing the post-it on the ground.

If your dog will not cross the paw and uses his other paw to target the post-it, then remove the post-it and next time cover his other paw with the post-it to prevent him from wanting to use that paw. Repeat this until the dog has gotten many clicks and treats for doing the proper behavior BEFORE you move the post-it to the side of the stationary paw.

This is our cute dog Bella. She was diagnosed with congenital megaesophagus soon after we found her at 4 months old. Megaesophagus means that her esophagus is enlarged and lacks the muscle mobility to swallow food while horizontal. This is her "Baileys Chair," which she needs sit in while eating and for 10 minutes after she eats. She eats soft dog food with a little water mixed in. She is now seven months old and doing great!

Twix learning to be calm around Sabrina the Cat! - Puppy Clicker Training

It is so important to teach a dog what to do around a cat. Especially a puppy since their first instinct might be to chase the cat. I introduce on leash and allow for sniffing and allow the cat to leave if she wants to leave.

I manage behavior by having the dog on leash and not allowing him to chase, nip, or jump on the cat.
Sabrina warmed up to Twix quickly as she really loves Bandit and Isabelle, so I think it was much easier for her with Twix.

I reinforce all behaviors I like that are calm and respectful to the cat. I either kissy noise away from the cat if he is about to chase or I have him on leash with me.

It does not take a dog long to realize that the cat is part of the family.
